One Young World Japan（OYWJ）は、このたびアステラス製薬株式会社（以下、「アステラス製薬(株)」）が、One Young World 2027 東京サミットの初のHost City Partnerとして参画されることを、心より歓迎いたします。2027年9月28日から10月1日まで開催される東京サミットには、世界190以上の国・地域から2,000名を超える、社会課題の解決に取り組む次世代リーダーが東京に集結します。本サミットは、One Young World史上最大規模の開催となることが期待されるとともに、日本で初めて開催される歴史的なサミットとなります。

次世代の力を通じて、科学の進歩を患者さんの「価値」へ変える

アステラス製薬(株)は、VISION「変化する医療の最先端に立ち、科学の進歩を患者さんの『価値』に変える」の実現に向け、持続的な成長を推進するとともに、患者さんにより大きな「価値」を創り、より速く届け、変化し続けるアンメットニーズに応えていくための5カ年の経営計画2026を2026年5月に発表しました。

この患者中心の考え方は、One Young Worldを通じて次世代リーダーに託されてきました。これまでアステラス製薬(株)から30名を超える社員がグローバルサミットに参加し、健康とウェルビーイングの向上に資するプロジェクトを推進してきました。

また、健康格差はこれまでもサミットにおける重要な議題の一つでした。One Young World 2027 東京サミットでは、世界で最も急速に高齢化が進む日本において、患者さんを取り巻く現実、すなわち地方における医療提供体制の課題や家族が担う介護負担などを世界中から集まる次世代リーダーたちと共有し、その解決策を議論する場となります。

8年にわたり育まれてきたパートナーシップ

今回のHost City Partnerへの参画は、2018年に開催された第1回 One Young World Japan Forumを契機に始まった、アステラス製薬(株)とOne Young World Japanのパートナーシップの新たな節目となります。当時、アステラス製薬(株)のChief Strategy Officer（最高戦略責任者）を務めていた代表取締役社長CEO 岡村直樹氏は、第1回Japan Forumに登壇されました。この出会いをきっかけに、One Young World JapanおよびOne Young World JapanによるGlobal Leader Acceleratorと共同で、国連の持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）を「North Star（進むべき指針）」に据えた社内リーダーシップ・プログラム「ASTAR」が誕生しました。ASTARでは、参加メンバーがアンメット・メディカル・ニーズを抱える患者さんを支援するさまざまなプロジェクトを立ち上げるとともに、経営陣、とりわけ一部のC-suiteエグゼクティブとの直接対話を通じて、次世代リーダーとしての視座を高める機会が提供されてきました。2025年には、アステラス製薬(株)はOne Young World Japan初のPlatform Partnerとなり、両者の連携はさらに深化しました。そして2026年、岡村氏が日本人として初めてOne Young WorldのCounsellorに就任されるとともに、アステラス製薬(株)は東京サミット初のHost City Partnerとして、その開催を支える中心的なパートナーとなります。

One Young World Japan (OYWJ) warmly celebrates Astellas Pharma Inc. (“Astellas”) joining as the first Host City Partner of the One Young World 2027 Tokyo Summit. From September 28 to October 1, 2027, more than 2,000 of the world’s most impactful young leaders from over 190 countries will convene in Tokyo to drive global social change in what is expected to be the largest Summit in the organization’s history - and the first ever held in Japan.


COMMITTED TO TURNING INNOVATIVE SCIENCE INTO VALUE FOR PATIENTS -
THROUGH THE NEXT GENERATION

Astellas’ VISION is to be “on the forefront of healthcare change to turn innovative science into VALUE for patients.” Astellas announced their five-year Corporate Strategic Plan 2026 in May 2026 to drive sustainable growth, create and deliver greater VALUE faster for patients, and address evolving unmet medical needs. That patient-centric mandate is precisely what the company has entrusted to young leaders through One Young World. Astellas’ thirty-plus delegates sent to previous global One Young World Summits have led projects advancing health and well-being. Health equality has featured as a plenary challenge of the Summit itself, and Tokyo 2027 will place Japan’s own patient realities - the world’s most rapidly ageing society, thinning clinical capacity in rural prefectures, and the caregiving burden borne by families - in front of a global audience of problem-solvers.


A PARTNERSHIP EIGHT YEARS IN THE MAKING

This Host City Partnership is an evolution of the relationship between Astellas and OYWJ which began in 2018 at the inaugural Japan Forum. Mr. Naoki Okamura, President and CEO of Astellas, took the stage in his 2018 role as Chief Strategy Officer. The success of that gathering led to ASTAR, an internal leadership program co-developed with OYWJ and its Global Leader Accelerator, which uses the UN Sustainable Development Goals as its “north star.” ASTAR members produced initiatives to support patients with unmet needs, and gave young professionals direct access to Astellas leadership including select C-Suite executives. In 2025, Astellas became OYWJ’s first-ever Platform Partner. Now, as Mr. Okamura takes his seat as One Young World’s first Counsellor from Japan, Astellas becomes the first company to anchor the Tokyo Summit as Host City Partner.
